Using this sound interface has made this a breeze and the sound quality has made other podcast hosts envious as our recording are top-notch (Using Focusrite Scarlett 2i2, w/ Linux, Mixxx,) no drivers were required it worked instantly! I DJ for a local swing & ballroom group Indydancers and we do a live (HD)podcast show on Sunday nights that is replayed on Tuesday's via RadioKing. Clear crisp sound for my recordings and podcasts. The focusrite 2i2 works when others have not.

It ships with a USB-C to standard USB-A cable. While this interface has USB-C on the back, it does not ship with a USB-C to USB-C cable. It might, but I would definitely do some research before purchasing if you plan on using the SM7B. While I'm not totally sure as I don't have one laying around, I am unsure whether it would have sufficient gain for something like a Shure SM7B. It's almost turned up to the maximum level, but it has enough for lower-noise sources like regular speaking. The gain is sufficient for the non-phantom powered Shure SM58. These aren't really "negatives," but things you might want to be aware of.
The Air setting also has a nice sound for voice work/vocals. It sounds clear, has low noise, and (at least on Mac) is plug and play. Instruments and mics are both taken well by this interface. I purchased this as a basic interface for voice (speaking), vocal and instrumental recording, and guitar emulation through a DAW- pretty much every use for this interface. Perhaps there are slightly different command syntaxes for Ubuntu Studio? Could it be that the instructions are for another distribution? However, most of the command lines are rejected in Ubuntu Studio for some reason. I found this reference for the complete drivers: I have tried several variants out there without success:ĪLSA mixer still gives me the error message: No mixer for this device! I attempted to enable the mixer by adding the required driver configuration files I have seen out there in the /etc/modprobe.d folder. Obviously, the drivers for this functionality do not load or are simply not there. When I use alsamixer from terminal, I see the audio interface, but when I hit F6 and select it, I get a message that there is no mixer for it. Being class compliant, it sorta works, but in order for it to be fully functional, this device needs software control. I would like to control my very popular Focusrite Scarlett 4i4 Gen3 audio interface. It appears to work very well, using the included DAWS as well as others. I have installed Ubuntu Studio 20.04.3 on my Lenovo Thinkpad W520 with success.
